Dr. Yong Fu is a Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Endowed Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Mississippi State University (MSU). He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, in 1997 and 2002, respectively. In 2006, he received his Ph.D. degree (advised by Dr. Mohammad Shahidehpour) in Electrical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago.

He was a recipient of the NSF Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award in 2012. He is a Top 10 Winner of the DOE ARPA-E Grid Optimization (GO) Competition Challenge 1. He received the 2011 MSU StatePride Faculty Award, the 2015 MSU Outstanding Faculty Research Award, and the 2016-2017 Benjamin F. Hilbun Faculty Leadership Award at MSU. He has served as an editor for the IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, the IEEE Power Engineering Letters, the IEEE Access, the Journal of Electric Power Components and Systems, and the CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems. He was a Guest Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid: Special Issue on "Optimization Methods and Algorithms Applied to Smart Grid". He was awarded the 2015 Exceptional Reviewer of the IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery and the 2018 Exceptional Reviewer of the IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy. He also served the Organizing and Program Committee for annual Innovations in Protection and Control for Greater Reliability Infrastructure Development (i-PCGRID) Workshop.

He is an IEEE senior member.
